Before transferring it to another person or changing its ownership, the essential first step is to reactivate the vehicle at the Traffic Department (DGT). This process can be done online or in person, always with an appointment.

Here are the basic steps to follow:

1. The current owner requests the administrative reactivation of the vehicle at the DGT.
2. The corresponding fee is paid, which currently is €8.67.
3. The city council will charge the proportional part of the road tax for that year.
